Our exciting exchange week in Italy

On Sunday, 9 March 2025, we, the Erasmus group, flew to Italy. We met at the airport in Düsseldorf at 10.00 a.m., where we checked in our luggage and then went to the gate. While we waited to board our flight we got more and more excited. Boarding began and we were given the safety briefing. The plane then took off and for some of us it was the first flight. After a 1 1/2 hour, we landed in Bolonga, Italy. There we were warmly welcomed and picked up by our host families. We were able to enjoy the rest of the day and got to know our families. On Monday, we went to school for the first time, where we were warmly welcomed once again. There we started to get to know the Italien Student with a game and the scavenger hunt in the school. We all had fun and laughed a lot together. On Tuesday, we went to the Sassuolo City Centre. There we did another scavenger hunt. After that we met the mayor of Sassuolo, Matteo Mesini. That was exiting because the most of us never met a major before. In the evening, we went back to school because we were celebrating a PJ party. We watched the film ‘Luca’ and ate lots of sweets. That was really cool. On Wednesday, there was a theatre workshop, a photography workshop and a tik toker workshop at the school with the theme of EU values. On Thursday, we met at Sassuolo train station. From there we took the train to Modena. There we had a guided tour of the cathedral and some time to go shopping. It was funny and exiting to get to know another town.

We returned to Sassuolo in the late afternoon. In the evening, we met up to play laser tag and go bowling. On our last day at school, we prepared for the party in the evening. There things really got going. The parents were welcomed, the results of the week were presented and a buffet was prepared. Then we were presented with certificates and the winners of the scavenger hunt were announced. The music started, the buffet was opened and we danced. When the german song „Robbe“ started all of us did the dance and laughed. Maybe the italian students thought, we were a little crazy, but still had a lot of fun with us. Saturday was family day and we enjoyed the last day with our families. On Sunday we met in front of the school and said goodbye to our host families, where some of us started to cry. We travelled by bus to Bolonga airport. At the flight all of us were very tired becuase it was an exiting week. We flew back home. There we were greeted joyfully and lovingly by our families and went home. We really enjoyed our stay and will always remember our host families in Italy.
